It is narrated that there was a dense jungle on the outskirts of river Tawi over three thousand years ago. The King of the state of Baho, called Jambu Lochan went there for hunting. He witnessed a tiger and a goat drinking water from the same place. He was impressed by the animal’s relationship. He thought it was inappropriate to kill such tolerant animals. He expected human beings relationships even stronger and their qualities even better. As a result, the King consulted with his companions and decided to build a city there. The city was named as Jambu, which gradually settled as Jammu.
